Episode 5 of the Asia's Next Top Model ended with the sad results for Thuy Trang of Vietnam. Trang performed well in the two first episodes but the Vietnamese model had to stop before the top 8.
The result was quite unexpected to the candidates and even with Melissa, who was in the risky group with Trang. Compared to Trang, Melissa was inferior in terms of experience and especially the appearance. The Malaysian model does not have an impressive face and her height is only 1.68 meters. However, she was chosen by the judges for her good English and her good performance in the photoshoot.
Back to the challenge in episode 5… The contestants were divided into three groups, and their task is within 10 minutes, they have to find the right outfit with the style requested by the judges, such as sexy, edgy and bizarre. Thuy Trang's group (edgy style) ranked first and in this group, Jessica won the first prize with a pink dress.
The next challenge took the girls to a beautiful resort to take photo with male models. The nine contestants were requested to express the classic feminine beauty.

In this competition, Thuy Trang revealed her weaknesses in English language when she could not understand the photographer's instruction. Thuy Trang was very tense and the fear still remained on her eyes in the last picture.
After the photoshoot by Thuy Trang, Daniel said that this was the longest 10 minutes of his life.
Kate rose to win the best photo, followed by Aastha, Jessica and Helena.
The top 8 contestants include: Aastha Pokharel of Nepal, Helena Chan of Hong Kong, Jessica Amornkuldilok of Thailand, Kate Ma of Taiwan, Melissa Th'ng of Malaysia, Rachel Erasmus of India, Stephanie Retuya of the Philippines and Sofia Wakabayashi of Japan.
